Information
‘Discover e-volunteering’ is the only competition in Europe which aims at honouring and promoting the most interesting projects in which volunteers are helping others via the Internet. This year, after two successful polish editions we’ve decided to run the competition
After accomplishing two Polish editions of the Competition we decided that the third one shall be organised on the European level. There was a good occasion for that – 2011 is the European Volunteering Year, and, at the same time, the year of Polish Presidency in the European Union. From May 25, till September 16, 2011, each non-governmental organisation registered in the EU might submit projects involving volunteers through the Internet to the Competition.
The effects of 1st European edition of the ‘Discover e-volunteering’ Competition were amazing! We’ve received over 80 applications to the Competition from organizations from 19 European countries. They are perfect examples of various e-volunteering activities happening on the Web: free Web counseling, forming assistance and self-help groups, e-tutoring, sharing professional skills and knowledge through the Net, e-charity, searching for information and many more!
The International Selection Committee has chosen the best 12 initiatives. Then over 18,000 Internet users voted for the best e-volunteering projects in the public online poll. The official announcement of the laureats took place on December 1st, 2011 in Warsaw at Gala of Volunteering – the cultural event accompanying the Final Conference of the European Year of Volunteering 2011. See, who the winners are!
